Pilates is system of mind-body exercise developed by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967).

Pilates is highly functional, safe and effective, which mean you train your muscles with focusing on recruiting them in certain sequences to re-train your movement pattern. Besides toning your muscles and the cardiovascular effects that it could bring, you learn to pay attention to increase your body awareness. Great body awareness contribute to your mindful living.

At Movement Matters Bali, we look at each body as a integrated, complex system that work closely within itself, to help us carry out the daily tasks and activities. We look at ways to help clients improve posture by facilitating core control and optimal movement of the spine, to make sure that the important stabilizing joints and muscles are in place so that we can work on releasing/stretching the overworked tight muscles.

We then balance the strength and flexibility by first isolating the muscles and joints and to assist client in recognizing their movement pattern. Once they are familiar with that, they can then integrate and execute a higher level of movement control.
